Vypsaná fixa Serves Up a Spring Booster “Bylo to jistý.” During the Music Video Shoot, They Even Got a Legendary Hockey Player into Overalls.

The cult Pardubice band Vypsaná fixa is putting the final touches on a new album set for release this May. Now, Vypsaná Fixa unveils its first single, Bylo to jistý. Anyone who attended their concerts in the second half of last year may have already heard the track live — the band simply couldn't wait to see how audiences would react.
The overall feel of the new song was shaped by an unexpected gift. Songwriter and frontman Márdi explains: "Bylo to jistý was one of the first songs we wrote, so it was basically finished in the early phase of the two-year period during which we worked on the album. It was the only new track we started playing live, and the fan response was amazing from the very beginning. An interesting detail is the keyboard motif — that came about because I got a keyboard from my wife for Christmas. When I asked her what I was supposed to do with it, she just smiled and said I should move forward."
The enthusiastic reception may also stem from the song's message. Bylo to jistý tells a simple story about the moment when you suddenly realize you have feelings for someone. It's something you can't stop or fully explain — it just happens. It can come at any time, anywhere, whether you're sixteen or seventy-eight. And that idea resonates even more strongly with the arrival of spring.
The atmosphere of the first single is further enhanced by a music video filled with nostalgia and a touch of sporting spirit. The video was directed by Jakub Kohák and even features legendary hockey player Jiří Hrdina.
"We've been running into Jakub backstage at shows for years and always said we should work together someday. We love his humor and originality. Just when it seemed like it would never happen, things suddenly fell into place. He came up with the story and directed it himself. Filming in a village just outside Prague was hilarious on its own. Kuba wanted us and our fans to show up in sportswear. Our 'fifth, non-playing member' Jirka Hrdina — a legendary hockey player and NHL scout — showed up wearing a Dallas Stars hoodie. But Kuba didn't hesitate, took it off him, put him in overalls instead, and suddenly Jirka looked like a completely authentic countryside farmer," Márdi laughs.
The upcoming album, recorded over the past two years in various locations, ultimately got its title from guitarist Mejla. The idea came in a memorable moment in the dressing room before a show in Jablonec nad Nisou. After four years, Vypsaná fixa will release their new record IDEÁL! on May 22.
