Vetten Äpärät Return After Years of Silence. New Single Äiti Paves the Way for Their Second Album

Finnish folk metal band Vetten Äpärät have broken their long silence. With a new music video for the track Äiti, the band are offering a first taste of their second studio album, Virkos Veren Kasteesta, scheduled for release in 2027.

The new single, Äiti, meaning Mother, tells the story of a child growing up in a brutally abusive home. To escape traumatic experiences too overwhelming for a young mind to process, the child retreats into a fantasy world, which becomes a way of coping with the harsh reality of their life.

The upcoming album, Virkos Veren Kasteesta, will build on the fantasy themes and reflective metaphors that Vetten Äpärät introduced on their 2016 debut, Syntyi Talven Kyynelistä. This time, the band will turn their attention to the unforgiving Nordic wilderness and humanity's desperate struggle to conquer it.

Vetten Äpärät are a fantasy-inspired folk metal band from Helsinki whose roots stretch back to 2007. Their music blends heavy metal with dark, icy melodies inspired by nature. The current line-up consists of Sami Ferm (vocals, songwriting), Anton Nisonen (drums), Leo Lemmetty (guitar), Aleksi Kulmala (lead guitar) and Jarmo Luopa (bass, vocals).

Although the band went through numerous line-up changes in their early years, the current members have been playing together for more than a decade. Sami Ferm and Anton Nisonen are the only remaining founding members.

Vetten Äpärät released their debut album, Syntyi Talven Kyynelistä, in 2016. After more than a decade, fans will finally get its long-awaited follow-up in 2027 with Virkos Veren Kasteesta.
