Tony Iommi is preparing his third solo album, set to be released later this year

Guitar legend Tony Iommi enters the new year with a clear plan — to finish and release his third solo album, which should arrive later this year. The founder of Black Sabbath confirmed this in a video published around the turn of the year, where he reflected on the past period and hinted at what fans can expect next.

The past months have been emotional for the Sabbath camp. Alongside the band's grand farewell concert, the metal world was also struck by the sad news of the passing of Ozzy Osbourne. Despite this, Iommi is not standing still and continues to move forward musically.

He commented on his new solo material briefly but clearly — the work excites and fulfills him, and he himself is looking forward to the result. This personal joy in creation is meant to be one of the main driving forces behind the entire album.

In addition to the album, a documentary film is also in preparation, on which Iommi is collaborating with Gibson. The film should map his life, career, and his fundamental influence on the birth of heavy metal.

It therefore seems that even after decades on the scene, Tony Iommi remains an active force in the metal world — and 2026 could be an exceptionally strong year for his fans.
