The Scottish Storm Heads to Brno: Nazareth to Rock Sono Centrum, with Czech Legends Turbo Opening the Night

The legendary hard rock band Nazareth is returning to the Czech Republic! In February 2026, they will delight fans at Sono Centrum in Brno. The evening will open with a performance by Czech legends Turbo, who have been active on the music scene since the early 1980s.
Nazareth are a Scottish rock band known for numerous rock hits, as well as their outstanding cover version of the mid-1970s ballad "Love Hurts." The group was formed in Dunfermline from the remnants of the semi-professional local band The Shadettes (originally Mark V and The Red Hawks) by vocalist Dan McCafferty, guitarist Manny Charlton, bassist Pete Agnew, and drummer Darrell Sweet. Their name was taken from the song "The Weight" by The Band. In 1970, the group moved to London, where they released their self-titled debut album in 1971. After gaining attention with the 1972 album Exercises, Nazareth released Razamanaz in early 1973.
Songs such as Broken Down Angel and Bad Bad Boy reached the UK Top 10. This was followed by the album Loud 'N' Proud at the end of 1973, which included the hit This Flight Tonight, originally by Joni Mitchell. In 1974, they released Rampant, which was equally successful, although it did not feature a hit single. Another track once again a cover - My White Bicycle, reached the UK Top 20 in early 1975.
The album Hair of the Dog was released in 1975. The title track (popularly, though incorrectly, known as "Now You're Messing With a Son of a Bitch") became a staple of 1970s rock radio. The American edition of the album included Love Hurts, originally by The Everly Brothers and also recorded by Roy Orbison. The song was released as a single in both the UK and the USA. In the United States, it achieved platinum status and remains the only Nazareth track to reach the American Top Ten.
In the summer of 2013, Dan McCafferty announced that he was leaving the band for health reasons. In February 2014, he was replaced by Linton Osborne; however, in December 2014, the band was forced to cancel several concerts and postpone a UK tour due to Osborne's illness. In January, Osborne announced his departure from Nazareth via Facebook, and a month later the band —currently consisting of co-founder Pete Agnew (bass), his son Lee Agnew (drums), and Jimmy Murrison (guitar, with the band since 1994)—introduced a new vocalist on their website: Carl Sentance. Sentance remained with the band until the end of 2025, after which the frontman position was taken over by Gianni Pontillo.
Turbo performed under the Brnokoncert banner at a sold-out Sono Centrum in the autumn of 2023. The band currently operates with a new lineup: Radomil Zíka (vocals), Karel Mecner (guitar), Jirka Lang (drums), Petr "Bob" Šťastný (bass), and Miroslav Orcígr (keyboards). In February 2025, they recorded new songs in this lineup with Warner Music, and fans can expect a new studio album tentatively toward the end of 2026. In March, the band embarks on a major 2025 tour across the Czech Republic and Slovakia, comprising nearly 70 stops.
