The Rasmus set the Brno SONO party on fire

The Finnish band The Rasmus arrived at the Brno SONO Music Club on Friday, November 14, 2025. Specifically, they returned here after seven long years as part of the tour for their new album Weirdo.

The evening started with a short set by the Finnish band Block of Flats. They are very energetic, they present a fresh, modern rock sound with an overlap in various genres - in addition to rock and metal, they also combine elements of punk or electronics together with distinctive and dynamic guitar riffs. This multi-genre mix of music combined with deeper emotional and outsider lyrics significantly impressed the waiting audience.

This was followed by a performance by the American rockers The Funeral Portraits. They are guests of The Rasmus as part of the Weirdo Tour, according to their singer, this is the band's first European tour, so it is their premiere in the Czech Republic. It's a very specific style combining emo, post-hardcore, alternative rock or punk, their performance exuded emotional energy – you just had to close your eyes and you were transported back a decade when listening to My Chemical Romance and other bands of a similar genre.

Then came the evening's finale – The Rasmus came on stage and the whole SONO was completely shaken to its foundations. They started the set with the new song "Rest in Pieces," which brings an energetic touch and is ideal for the opening. Other new songs were also played such as "Creatures of Chaos," "Brake These Chains" or "Banksy," but the songs were interspersed with older ones. However, it was clear from the energy and expression of the audience that they knew the new album and did not come only for "In The Shadows," "Guilty" or "First Day of My Life," which of course could not be missed. During the last song "Weirdo," Lee Jennings, singer from The Funeral Portraits, who made a guest appearance on the album, also arrived on stage. They also edited the song together live, which was definitely a plus. As an encore, "Sail Away" was played, which was started acoustically by singer Lauri Ylönen. As the very last song of the evening, the new song "Love is Bitch" was played.

After the concert (and actually before it) there was an opportunity to buy some souvenirs at the merch stand, The Rasmus even brought their book - unfortunately only in Finnish. In the hallway, there was an opportunity to take a picture and exchange a few sentences with the singer of The Funeral Portraits. Personally, I have to say that it was a very nice meeting, Lee Jennings has incredible charisma.

Thank you very much for The Rasmus coming to the Czech Republic again and for bringing these great guests with them. Our headliners today should return to our region soon - next year as part of Masters of Rock. Personally, I hope that the other two bands will also appear in the Czech Republic soon.

P.S. I am attaching a few cell phone photos, unfortunately I couldn't bring my camera with me.
