Tanja Ignites the Flame: Rock Legend Returns with a New EP

Charismatic singer and unmistakable voice of the Czech rock scene Tanja (born Tanja Kauerová) is back in full force. She is presenting fans with her seventh studio release more precisely, a substantial EP symbolically titled "Plamen". The new record conceptually follows the lead single "Nostalgie" from the end of 2025, which has also received a music video to coincide with the EP's release.
Several years have passed since the singer's previous EP, released in 2018, and as Tanja herself admits, the road to this new musical project was far from straightforward. Over time, several outstanding musicians from leading Czech rock and metal bands contributed to the recording.
"Many years had passed, and the time had come to record new songs. Right at the beginning, Jiří Rain (a member of Citron) sent me some demos that immediately caught my attention because they matched my vision perfectly. We recorded the first demo versions together, but when his studio closed, I had to look elsewhere," Tanja says, describing the early stages of the recording process.
Another icon of the Czech rock scene, guitarist and composer Miloš "Dodo" Doležal, subsequently joined the creative process. He gave the singer the song "Cítím srdce svý", which they also recorded together. Guitarist Pavel Hanus (a member of Citron) contributed his distinctive guitar parts. The lead song "Nostalgie" was written by musician Zdeněk Grondol. Guitarist J. Macíček was also behind the creation of the song "Jméno". The list of renowned names is completed by acclaimed lyricist and OK Band founder Vladimír Kočandrle, who wrote the lyrics for the emotional song Zapomeň.
The EP was ultimately given its final form, additional recordings and overall mastering at the renowned CITRON Studio in Ostrava, under the careful supervision of sound engineer Petr Slezák.
"Several great musicians contributed to this EP, and each of them put a piece of their heart and energy into it. Although the journey was not easy and took us through several studios and many changes, the result was worth it and reflects my inner world and my life. Sometimes life simply reshuffles the cards in ways I would never have expected, but what matters is the outcome, and I am extremely happy with it. I would like to thank everyone who was part of this journey, as well as the fans who listen to my songs," the singer adds gratefully.
On the new EP Plamen, fans will find six tracks combining traditional rock energy with a modern sound and personal lyrics: Plamen, Nostalgie, Cítím srdce svý, V ozvěnách, Zapomeň and Jméno.
Tanja (born Tanja Kauerová-Pařízková) is one of the most distinctive figures on the Czech rock scene. She rose to prominence in the late 1980s as an unmistakable "rock firebrand". Her career became closely linked to the legendary Ostrava band Citron, with whom she recorded timeless hits such as Nad hlavou létá rokenrol, as well as the famous duets Kam jen jdou lásky mé and Schoulená with Ladislav Křížek. Thanks to her voice and boundless energy, she placed third in the nationwide Zlatý slavík music poll in both 1989 and 1990. After a longer break devoted to her family, she successfully returned to live performance and now regularly appears both as a permanent guest with Citron and in her own solo projects.
