Suzi Quatro: Rock'n'roll legend still in full force

The name Suzi Quatro is inescapably one of the true legends of rock'n'roll. An icon who has been making her way through the music world for more than sixty years with a bass guitar in her hand, a leather outfit, uncompromising energy and charisma. Suzi Quatro returned to Brno after two years – she last performed here in 2023 – and this time she played her concert in the premises of the Brno Zoner Bobyhall. The hall became the scene of an evening that clearly showed that rock'n'roll is not going to retire.

Upon arriving at the hall, it was already clear that this would not be a typical rock concert full of crowds and endless lines. There was a rather calm atmosphere and respect from the audience, who knew very well what legend would appear on stage that evening. The concert was mainly for seated guests, although there was also standing room. The luckiest fans who secured tickets to the front row found themselves literally within reach of the stage and Suzi herself. Visitors had refreshments and a bar at their disposal, which allowed them to make the wait for the evening to begin more enjoyable.

Shortly after eight o'clock, the hall plunged into darkness and individual band members began to arrive on stage, who were loudly welcomed by the audience. Of course, Suzi earned the biggest ovation. And right from the start, she made it clear that her rebellion had definitely not left her – she turned her back on the audience and with a provocative gesture reminded them of her legendary statement: "I will retire when I go on stage, shake my ass, and there is silence." Of course, there was no silence. Quite the opposite.

The evening opened with the energetic song The Wild One, and from the very first notes it was clear that the audience was in for a powerful musical experience. The setlist was packed with classics such as I May Be Too Young, Daytona Demon, No Soul / No Control, I Sold My Soul Today or Mama's Boy. Suzi conquered the stage with complete ease, as if she had been standing on it her whole life – which she actually is. An interesting moment was the song Stumblin' In. First, a modern remixed version, known more to the younger generation, was played. Suzi laughed it off, noted that they would not play this version, and finally served the fans the original, authentic performance. Exactly the way they wanted to hear it. A very intimate atmosphere arose during the song Can I Be Your Girl?. Suzi sent the rest of the band off the stage, sat down at the piano and played the song alone.

After the first part of the concert, there was a fifteen-minute break. When the band returned, Suzi was already wearing her typical leather outfit – and even after years on stage, she seemed confident, tough and irresistible. The second part of the concert offered other strong moments in the form of the songs Bad Moon Rising, She's in Love With You or the immortal Can the Can, which definitively confirmed that Suzi Quatro still has the audience firmly in her grasp.

In conclusion, there is nothing left to do but smile. Suzi Quatro and her band performed a captivating show full of energy, perspective and rock'n'roll audacity. It was not just nostalgia, but a full-fledged concert of a legend who still has it. Age plays no role in music - what matters is passion, strength and the desire to go on stage to the fullest. Thanks also go to everyone who participated in the realization of this evening - the organizers, technicians and sound engineers. Rock'n'roll is definitely not dead in Brno. And Suzi Quatro just confirmed it again.
