Songs by Zuzana Navarová Performed by Iva Marešová and the Philharmonic Orchestra to Resound Through Nová Spirála This Autumn

01/07/2026

An exceptional musical experience awaits with the concert Zuzaně Navarové do nebes, taking audiences on a journey through the entire musical era of the phenomenal Czech artist Zuzana Navarová. The creative collaboration between the Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra, RAZAM, and singer Iva Marešová was originally created to mark last year's celebration of the 800th anniversary of Hradec Králové, the birthplace of Zuzana Navarová, and will now arrive at Nová Spirála in Prague on November 14. The evening will feature her best-known songs, including Andělská, Malování, Námořnická, and Naruby, offering powerful emotions while celebrating the life and legacy of one of the Czech music scene's most distinctive personalities. The project, highly acclaimed by both critics and the general public, most recently received an enthusiastic response at the Rock for People festival, where it captivated audiences. Headliner magazine wrote: "It was an excellent concert that soothed the soul and delivered a deeply moving musical experience, one during which time seemed to stand still and all the other stages fell silent. Rock for People deserves nothing but thanks for bringing performances like this to the festival."

This unique project presents Zuzana Navarová's songs in brand-new arrangements, brought to life through the original and sensitive interpretation of acclaimed singer Iva Marešová, RAZAM, and the Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra. It also builds on the highly praised production A pak usnu a vstanu by Klicpera Theatre, which was warmly received by both audiences and critics. Vocals will also be performed by William Valerián. Both the intimate and grand arrangements of the songs were created by Radek Doležal. The experience will be further enhanced by the modern circular auditorium of Nová Spirála, where audiences become almost part of the performance, with the stage seemingly within arm's reach. This newly established multidisciplinary cultural venue features state-of-the-art technology and an auditorium with a revolving stage.

The Prague presentation of the project is promoted by Michal Thomes, founder of the Rock for People festival, under the RFP Concerts banner. "The theatre production A pak usnu a vstanu had a profound impact on me because it revived Zuzana Navarová's songs in new arrangements created with great humility and respect. My genuine enthusiasm led Vláďa and Iva to invite me to collaborate on bringing the concert version to Prague, and it was an offer I simply couldn't refuse," he says.

"If this celebration of Zuzana's work had not originated as part of the celebrations of our shared hometown, I probably would never have dared to interpret her songs myself. There is a huge difference between presenting someone else's work and presenting yourself through someone else's work. You constantly balance on a very fine line between two approaches to interpretation, and after a while you may not even notice that your ego has quietly taken over and that you are decorating yourself with someone else's feathers," says Iva Marešová, adding: "For me, staying aware of that boundary is the alpha and omega every single time we perform Zuzaně do nebes. I believe that sensitivity, humility, respect, and love for Zuzana, her work, together with the necessary measure of personal artistic freedom and creativity, can create a musical essence that enriches everyone involved."

Iva Marešová is a Czech singer, actress, and lyricist from Hradec Králové. She is a co-founder of the international band RAZAM, performing in various line-ups alongside Belarusian accordionist Aliaksandr Yasinski, drummer and pianist Radek Doležal, guitarist and bassist Michael Vašíček, guitarist Vladimír Šrámek, violinist Marc Čaňo, and Russian violist Ilia Chernoklinov. She has also gained extensive experience in musical theatre, including the leading role of Joan of Arc in Kalich Theatre. In addition to her own projects, Marešová was the lead singer of Precedens from 2016 to 2019, appeared as a guest with Blue Effect and Čechomor, and collaborated with Michal Pavlíček, Jiří Škorpík, Oskar Petr, and David Bowie's guitarist Gerry Leonard. In 2023, Vladimír Šrámek, director of the Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra, initiated a highly successful sold-out concert featuring the collaboration. This led to the idea of recording the songs together on an album, which was released last year under the title Na dně mojí duše.
