SONAATA returns with the new single Pretty Words. Rock energy takes aim at empty promises

The Czech-Slovak alternative rock scene has gained another distinctive name. SONAATA, the solo project of singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Soňa Bachledová, presents her new single Pretty Words. The punchy track is built on a bass-driven groove, distorted guitar and a contrast between female rock energy and catchy pop playfulness.
Empty promises wrapped in energetic rock
The new release Pretty Words focuses on empty promises in a relationship, but musically it avoids heavy-handed melancholy. Instead, it works with irony, a playful arrangement and a strong rhythmic foundation. The result is a track that combines the directness of modern rock with the melodic lightness of pop.
Its mood may bring to mind tracks such as Miss Nothing by The Pretty Reckless or Six Feet Deep by The Warning. In a broader context, SONAATA draws on the contemporary emo and alternative rock scene, blending modern production with an old-school rock foundation.
From Košice through Prague to her own project
Soňa Bachledová comes from Košice and has been involved in music since the age of thirteen. After performing in school bands and choirs, she moved to Prague, where she studied rock vocals and bass guitar. Today, she also works professionally as a vocal coach in the Czech capital.
Before launching her solo project, she gained experience in several professional music acts. She was a member of Tereza Balonová's band, with whom she appeared at Prague's O2 arena as well as on national television; she sang backing vocals with Balage Band at Lucerna Music Bar, contributed as a musician to studio recordings by Adam Ďurica and also performed with the band Smokedrop.
First solo concert at Rock for People
She later established herself as a solo artist under the name SONAATA. A major milestone came with her debut at Rock for People 2026, where she earned her place through a fan vote and performed her first solo concert.
She has already released the EP Under Surface, the single Not Enough and several music videos. Pretty Words therefore marks another step in shaping her own sound, built on strong melodies, authentic lyrics and confident rock energy.
Natural reference points for the project include artists and bands such as Paramore, Avril Lavigne, The Warning and The Pretty Reckless. On today's rock scene, SONAATA brings a distinctive voice that combines a rawer guitar foundation with pop accessibility. Her direction also places her alongside prominent women in modern rock such as Taylor Momsen, Lzzy Hale and Hayley Williams.
The new single Pretty Words is further proof that modern female-fronted rock is also emerging from the Czech-Slovak scene - music that can be sharp, catchy and personal at the same time.
