SMOKIE IS RETURNING TO THE CZECH REPUBLIC!

British legends live again in Olomouc and Hradec Králové. Following their great return to Czech stages in June 2025, when the Brnokoncert agency organised sold-out concerts in Prague, Brno and Ostrava, the British band Smokie is coming back! Their shows were part of the Greatest Hits World Tour 2025 – and thanks to the huge interest from fans, new dates are being prepared for 2026 as well.

As the name of the tour suggests, fans can look forward to a selection of the greatest hits of this legendary glam rock band. Timeless songs such as Don't Play Your Rock 'n' Roll to Me, Living Next Door to Alice and Oh Carol will be performed – songs known by generations and still played on radio stations around the world.

The popularity of Smokie extends far beyond their native Britain – Czech audiences have fallen in love with their music to such an extent that it has also inspired local artists. Examples include songs such as Alenka v říši divů (Karel Zich), Mýdlový princ (Václav Neckář) and Prohrát není žádná hanba (Argema).

The band's roots date back to 1965, when a group of high school students from Bradford, England, led by singer Chris Norman, formed a band that performed under various names at the time – Yen, Essence, Elizabethans and Smokey. It was not until the mid-1970s that the name Smokie, known around the world to this day, became established.

From small clubs, the band gradually worked its way up to become one of the biggest names on the global rock scene. A key turning point came in 1975, when producer Nicky Chin noticed them. It was then that they released their debut album, which catapulted them into charts around the world. Singles such as If You Think You Know How to Love Me and Don't Play Your Rock 'n' Roll to Me immediately became hits, and Smokie joined the ranks of the greats of the 1970s – Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones.

During their career, they have released more than twenty studio albums, countless live recordings and greatest-hits collections – and they certainly have not lost any of their energy even after decades on stage.
