Slipknot are digging up a treasure from the archives. The release of the album Look Outside Your Window is approaching!

What if someone told you that Slipknot had a finished album in a drawer at home that they recorded eighteen years ago – and never released? It sounds like an urban legend, but it's reality. We're talking about the mysterious project Look Outside Your Window, which has been talked about among fans for years. And now? Now it seems that we can finally wait for its release. According to the latest words of Shawn "Clown" Crahan, the album could see the light of day as early as 2026!

And what makes Look Outside Your Window so special? It's not a classic Slipknot album. The entire nine-member lineup worked on its creation, but only four members – Corey Taylor, Jim Root, Sid Wilson and Shawn "Clowna" Crahan. They recorded it in parallel with the work on the album All Hope Is Gone, but in a different studio and most importantly – in a completely different spirit. While All Hope Is Gone featured Slipknot's familiar metal aggression, Look Outside Your Window is supposed to be experimental, atmospheric and significantly more melodic. Something on the border between art rock and alternative, which, according to the members, is supposed to remind them of Radiohead at times.

A total of eleven songs were created during the recording process. Some eventually found their way out in other ways – for example, Till We Die on the special edition of All Hope Is Gone, or My Pain, which was reworked and included on the album We Are Not Your Kind in 2019. Another song, Juliette, appeared in the 2016 film Officer Downe, which was directed by Crahan himself. Other known song titles associated with the project include In Reverse, Dirge, Chapter One, the Eleventh March and the working title Moth. Although they were never officially confirmed as part of the tracklist, their existence has been alive among fans for many years.

The album's release has been in the works for more than a decade. And since the album is not owned by a label, but by Slipknot, they have full control over when it will be released. This is precisely why the timing was a major concern. They didn't want to release it in 2019, so as not to overshadow the then-fresh We Are Not Your Kind album. Between 2020 and 2023, it seemed several times that the album was finally coming – Crahan repeatedly confirmed the progress of the work and at the end of 2023 added that the album had a finished mix, mastering and official cover. However, the release was postponed again.

And now comes the next chapter of this unfinished story. According to Crahan's last words, we could actually see Look Outside Your Window in 2026!

There's only one thing left: hold on. Will we finally get to see the musical treasure that Slipknot has been hiding for eighteen years? Or will Look Outside Your Window forever remain one of the greatest metal myths?
