SAXON have finished their new album. The British heavy metal legend announces it’s done – and Biff Byford has great news as well

British heavy metal icons SAXON have confirmed that work on their already 25th studio album has been completed. The new record, which will follow 2024's Hell, Fire And Damnation, is fully finished, with a tentative release planned for the end of 2026.
Frontman Biff Byford revealed in a new video message to fans that the band's longtime collaborator Andy Sneap has already completed the final mix. "The album is done, the mix is finished. You'll definitely hear more about it over the summer," said Byford. As with the previous release, Sneap handled the production – a name also known for his work with JUDAS PRIEST, ACCEPT or EXODUS.
The new material was created gradually over the past months, with the band gathering ideas both on the road and in home studios. All members took part in the songwriting process – guitarist Doug Scarratt, drummer Nigel Glockler and bassist Tim "Nibbs" Carter. The result is said to respect the classic Saxon signature sound while still feeling energetic and modern.
Alongside the musical update came very positive personal news. Biff Byford confirmed that he is six months after surgery for colon cancer and that the results of his follow-up CT scan are clear. "Everything is fine, nothing has come back. It's great news," said the singer, who has faced several serious health issues in recent years.
SAXON are thus entering the next chapter of their career with a strong new album behind them and a frontman back at full strength. A band with around 23 million albums sold and immortal hymns such as "Denim And Leather", "Princess Of The Night" or "Wheels Of Steel" is clearly showing that even after five decades, they have no intention of taking their foot off the gas.
Heavy metal lives on – and SAXON remain at the forefront of the attack.
