Protheus in Kolín: A world of people who still believe in music

At the Municipal Cultural House in Kolín, fans could experience an evening full of energy, humility, and humanity, thanks to the band Protheus, who set off on an autumn tour in support of their new album Svět lidí.

The autumn tour of the band Protheus in support of their new album Svět lidí made a stop at the Kolín Municipal Cultural Center on October 25. The evening, which from the very first moment smelled of energy, humanity and a certain humility, began as is already a tradition for the band — with an autograph session. Fans had the opportunity to have their photos signed, the newly released CD, which was available on site, and of course, to have their photos taken with the band. This part of the evening never seems like just a marketing move. It is more like proof that the relationship between the band and the fans is not one-sided – that even "stars" still want to be close to those who believe in them.

The first evening was the lively band Jacker's, who, just like on the spring tour, took on the role of guest. Even though there were voices in the hall that many people did not know them, the first few notes were enough and the band immediately started to receive energy back from the visitors. Jacker's play hard, honestly and with the iconic voice of Marek Dostal, which gives their sound character and strength. The audience soon got hooked, and so the "unknowns" became another one that fans will definitely remember. It was obvious that this group has music in their blood - and that they can take the hall into their own hands.

After a short break, it was time for the main star of the evening - Protheus. The band, which released its new album called Svět lidí two months ago, continues its journey, which is not only musical, but also personal. The stage was filled with joy, strength and humility. And among all the songs, lights and energy, a sentence remained in my ears that resonated throughout the evening:

"We are all Protheus."

At first listen, such words might seem like a self-congratulatory phrase, but to me they meant something else. I heard in them the idea that we are all united by the love of music, that everyone who stood in the hall, sang or just listened quietly is part of one whole. That music still has the power to unite people no matter where they come from, what they believe or what story they carry.

Jan Macků, the frontman of the band, constantly faces pressure that many of us would not be able to withstand. After a successful career in one of the biggest Czech bands, Dymytry, he decided to follow a different path – the path of his heart. And this is a step that many people cannot accept without prejudice. The music world, like the ordinary one, is not exactly forgiving. Many wait for the first hesitation, the first fall, the moment when they can say: "See? He didn't make it."

But I believe that the strength of a true artist is revealed precisely in these moments. Not in how much applause he gets, but in the fact that despite all the doubts he continues to stand on stage and do what he loves.

Not every song from the new album World of People resonates with me the same way. Some songs will hit me more, others less – but that's what music is all about. It may not appeal to everyone. But it has to be real. After all, each of you can judge the new album for yourself. You can find a list of concerts that the band still has to offer during the autumn tour at the link here.

I wish the entire band to persevere on their journey, to withstand the pressure of their surroundings and to continue pursuing what fulfills them. Because that's how the purest art is born – when you create it out of faith, not out of the need to please others.

And so when I left the Kolín's hall, I felt like I was part of something bigger. Not just a concert, but a world of people who still believe in the power of music.
