Precedens Set to Enter 2027 in Grand Style with Three Anniversaries, a Book and a Live Album

The year 2027 will be truly exceptional for Precedens. One of the most distinctive bands in Czech rock history will celebrate its 45th anniversary; its bandleader, composer and lyricist Martin Němec will turn 70; and 40 years will have passed since the release of the cult album Doba ledová. Three major milestones in a single year will therefore launch a period focused not only on looking back, but also on new music, concerts and upcoming projects.
Precedens made its mark on Czech rock history back in the 1980s, when the album Doba ledová significantly reshaped the domestic scene. At the time, the band managed to combine the urgency of rock, dark poetry, striking keyboard textures and lyrics with real depth. Albums such as Věž z písku, Pompeje and Aurora followed, while the group's history also became linked with a number of prominent figures, most notably Bára Basiková.
Martin Němec has been the principal creative force behind the band's repertoire from the very beginning, and his distinctive signature continues to define Precedens to this day. His 70th birthday will be one of the central themes of the anniversary year. The 2027 concert programme will offer a special retrospective spanning the band's entire history. Fans can look forward to landmark songs from each era, as well as more recent material proving that Precedens is by no means living solely on its past.
The current line-up, fronted by singer Daniela Langrová, has brought new energy to the band, something also evident on the 2025 album Odstíny černé. The record received a positive response from listeners and music critics alike and confirmed that Precedens can still sound contemporary without losing its distinctive signature, atmosphere and sense of mystery.
According to information provided directly by the band, additional concert dates for 2027 will gradually be added to the official website. Links to ticket sales will also be published for each date. All performances during the anniversary year will be dedicated to celebrating Precedens, although no special guests are currently planned. The focus will therefore remain firmly on the band itself, its story and the songs that have reached several generations of listeners over more than four decades.
The celebrations will not be confined to concert stages. A book featuring all of Martin Němec's lyrics, accompanied by extensive photographic documentation, is scheduled for publication in early 2027 (It will also include lyrics he wrote for Lili Marlene, a band featuring singer Dáša Součková that continues to perform regularly). A Precedens live album, capturing the band's current live sound, is also planned for release later in the year.
The band has also enjoyed an exceptionally strong period. In 2025, it was inducted into Radio Beat's Hall of Fame, and in 2026 ČT art broadcast an episode of the programme Ikony Kamila Střihavky dedicated to Martin Němec and Precedens. Němec's lyrics for the song A přece ráno also open an album by Michal Prokop that received an Anděl Award in 2026.
The year 2027 will therefore be more than a commemoration of one important chapter in Czech rock. It will be proof that Precedens continues to move forward, create and transform its past into a living, contemporary event. For long-time fans, it will be a return to songs that have accompanied them for decades; for younger listeners, it will be a chance to discover a band without which the Czech rock scene would look entirely different.
