Ozzfest could make a comeback. Sharon Osbourne hints at the return of the legendary festival

Sharon Osbourne has once again stirred the metal waters. In a recent interview with Billboard magazine, she revealed that she is in talks with the promotional giant Live Nation about a possible return of the touring Ozzfest festival. According to her, the event that fundamentally shaped the metal scene—especially in the United States—could take a fresh breath as early as 2027.

"Recently, I've been talking to Live Nation about bringing Ozzfest back to life," Sharon said. She also reminded that Ozzfest was always a matter close to Ozzy Osbourne's heart. "For him, it was mainly about giving young bands a chance to play in front of a large audience. Ozzfest was a place for new talent—a kind of summer camp for metal kids."

Interestingly, a potential return of the festival might not be limited strictly to heavy music. Sharon hinted that this time she would like to mix different genres and push the Ozzfest concept a step further. At the same time, she confirmed that she is also working with Live Nation on another ambitious project—an orchestral tour based on the repertoire of BLACK SABBATH, where classical music would be combined with modern visual technologies.

Ozzfest was founded thirty years ago as the very first nationwide festival in the USA focused exclusively on hard rock and metal. Over the years, it became a launching pad for a whole range of bands that are now considered legendary. After the "free" edition in 2007, however, its importance gradually declined—only limited or one-off events followed.

The last major comeback came in 2017, when Ozzy Osbourne headlined an all-day Ozzfest that attracted more than 17,000 fans. The festival then joined forces with SLIPKNOT's Knotfest, creating a two-day monstrous event. The final full stop so far was the New Year's Eve Ozzfest 2018 at the Forum in Los Angeles, which sold out and grossed over 1.2 million dollars.

Whether Ozzfest will truly return in full force will be shown in the coming months. One thing is certain, though: if the legend awakens again, the metal world will definitely not remain indifferent.
