MEGADETH return to pure thrash. New single "Let There Be Shred" cuts without mercy

Megadeth have finally hit the nail on the head. The new single "Let There Be Shred" is exactly what fans have been waiting for from the thrash metal legends - an uncompromising attack full of sharp riffs, furious solos and energy that directly invites you to circle pit. No experiments, no unnecessary sauce. Just pure, honest thrash.

After the more hesitant reactions to the previous singles, "Let There Be Shred" is a significant turn in the right direction. While "Tipping Point" still stood the test of time and "I Don't Care" was more of an embarrassment, the new one sounds like a clear statement: Megadeth can still really bite.

The peak of the song comes after about two minutes, when a dense, chugging riff turns into a lightning solo by Teemu Mäntysaari, which is smoothly followed by Dave Mustaine with his typical, unmistakable style. The whole thing feels natural, aggressive and, most importantly, fun. The same goes for the video clip, which does not pretend to have any deep symbolism and is simply entertaining.

Nevertheless, there remains some uncertainty about the overall form of the upcoming album. The pronounced stylistic fluctuations between the individual singles indicate that it will be a diverse material. However, if Megadeth's self-titled, farewell album is to be a real end to their legendary career, songs like "Let There Be Shred" are exactly what it should not be missing.

Megadeth's new, self-titled album will be released on January 23, 2026 on the BLKIIBLK label and pre-orders are already open. The band is also preparing for a farewell tour that will last for several more years. If Megadeth appears near your city, there is nothing to hesitate about - Dave Mustaine and co. deserve to see it live one last time.

Good news for Czech fans: Megadeth will perform on June 6, 2026 in Hradec Králové at the Rock for People festival in Park 360. As it truly is the final chapter of their career, it is a concert that no metal fan should miss.
