Mass Hallucination Tour 2026 in Brno: A Night When Nordic Metal Took Over

13/04/2026

A solid dose of Scandinavian metal arrived in Brno on Friday April. The Mass Hallucination Tour 2026 filled Sono, and it was clear the evening would offer a wide spectrum of extreme metal – from black 'n' roll through death metal to the dark melodies of Hypocrisy. Each band brought something different, and together they created a varied and dense night.

Vreid opened the show with their typical black 'n' roll sound, which works well on record, but in Brno felt rather cautious live. There were no technical issues, but the energy stayed relatively restrained. "Into the Mountains" was the strongest moment of their set and showed the band's potential, which could shine much more in a different setting. The audience was still warming up and Vreid had a tough slot, but they delivered a solid performance.

Vomitory brought exactly what fans expect – honest old-school death metal. No experiments, no gimmicks, just raw pressure and the confidence of seasoned musicians. After a long break, it's clear the band still has the drive to play, and their set had both punch and atmosphere. Brno received a solid dose of death metal that maintained its quality from start to finish.

Abbath then significantly lifted the entire evening. His charisma and stage presence immediately got the crowd moving. From the first notes it was clear this would be a show that wins the audience over. Grimaces, gestures, humour, theatrics – everything worked. And most importantly, the music. The set was energetic, alive, and exactly the kind of black metal theatre people want to see. Abbath proved once again that he remains one of the most distinctive frontmen on the scene.

Hypocrisy closed the night with a dark, heavy atmosphere that is typical for them. The sound was strong, the riffs heavy, and the setlist full of songs that hold a firm status among fans. Peter Tägtgren delivered a professional performance, even if he appeared more focused than extroverted. The band played with precision, and tracks like Roswell 47 and Eraser confirmed why Hypocrisy are considered one of the genre's staples. After Abbath's explosive set, their performance felt calmer, but the quality was undeniable.

Sono as a venue once again showed both its strengths and weaknesses. The sound was clean, but at times almost too polished for extreme metal. The stepped seating structure limits the pit, and overall the club feels more like a concert hall than a metal venue. Still, the evening worked well, and the bands made the most of it.

Mass Hallucination Tour 2026 in Brno delivered a varied night where every fan found something to enjoy. The strongest impact this time came from Abbath, but all bands delivered solid performances and together created a powerful metal evening.

Thanks to all the bands, crew, and fans for a proper dose of metal.
