Masked Solo Artist Corchorus Unveils Debut Album Lost In Life’s Great Shadow, Rooted in Dark Folk

24/10/2026

American one-man project Corchorus has released its debut album, Lost In Life's Great Shadow, blending dark metal, ambient music and folk into a bleak, atmospheric journey. The project hails from the Pacific Northwest of the United States, drawing inspiration from abandoned forests, unexplained phenomena and the aesthetics of folk horror.

Lost In Life's Great Shadow offers listeners a distinctive musical experience at the crossroads of darkness, melancholy and ritual. When writing his songs, Corchorus uses a free-flowing stream-of-consciousness approach, exploring themes of inner darkness, obsession and melancholy. The result is atmospheric acoustic music that seeks not merely to tell stories, but to evoke the unsettling feeling of a ritual.

The project's visual identity is equally distinctive. Its sole member performs with a coarse burlap sack covering his head, a choice he says is directly connected to the deeply personal nature of his music.

"The songs I write come from some strange corner of my mind that doesn't feel like my own. The music reflects a suppressed, shapeless version of myself. That's why I decided to wear a burlap sack over my head," explains Corchorus. He sees his music as something that goes beyond an ordinary live performance. "I approach playing these songs in a very ritualistic, almost ceremonial way. It really feels as though you're being possessed by the music…"

The album was recorded during the first half of 2026. Mastering and distribution were handled by Savo-Karelian Productions. Lost In Life's Great Shadow is now available as a limited-edition CD and digital download via the project's Bandcamp page.
