Lucie turns 40: The annual concert in Brno offered powerful moments and unexpected guests

Brno's Winning Group Arena hosted the annual concert of the band Lucie, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. The band started the evening with a strong start with the hit Černí andělé, and it was clear from the very first notes that the show would not just be a nostalgic look back, but a proper rock experience. Drummer Štěpán Smetáček surprised by swapping his sampled drums for a guitar, giving the song a dense, sharp sound that was more reminiscent of a live rock ride than Lucie's traditional arrangements.

Robert Kodym announced right at the beginning that the setlist would consist of the band's most important songs, and the audience could enjoy Chci zas v tobě spát, Šrouby do hlavy, Panic, Tereza and other classics during the evening. Michal Kocáb also joined in on the song Šrouby do hlavy, singing it together with the band and giving the song a distinctive moment that the fans appreciated with thunderous applause.

The concert also included newer songs, such as Marie, Krása and Zázrak a tajemství, which sounded confident and energetic live. The song Marie was particularly emotional because it was sung by the children of the band members, who also appeared during the Dream, along with singer Lenny. These moments seemed natural and sincere and added a strong emotional dimension to the evening.

The show was complemented by a number of guests. Guitarist Michal Pavlíček played the 90s hit Krev a r'n'r alongside Dyko, while for the song Amerika all the performing guests came on stage at once, including the children, creating a powerful conclusion to the main part of the concert.

The strongest moment came during the song Lucie, when the original band members – Michal Penk, Tomáš Waschinger and Petr Franc – appeared on stage. Their return to the stage was strongly nostalgic, but at the same time impressively energetic. A ballerina appeared on the side stage, giving the whole piece a dramatic and visually unconventional touch with her dance. This contrast between the dense rock music and elegant movement created an unexpected, almost ritualistic atmosphere.

The end of the concert was full of energy. Touch the fire was accompanied by pyrotechnics, which highlighted the power and intensity of the live sound. And finally, Medvídek came, and the entire audience sang along with the band. Although the arena was not completely full, the concert was full of drive, emotions and moments that proved that Lucie, after forty years, can still bring a distinctive, professional and raw rock experience.
