Louder Than Fear: Travis Barker will speak about the crash and his return to the stage in a new documentary
One of the most prominent drummers of the punk rock scene, Travis Barker (Blink-182), is preparing a documentary titled Louder Than Fear, which is expected to appear later this summer on the streaming platform Hulu (part of Disney+ in our region). According to the first information, this will not be a classic music documentary mapping the career of the famous drummer, but primarily a personal testimony about trauma, fear, and the subsequent return to life after a tragic plane crash.
This air disaster occurred on September 19, 2008, when a small private Learjet 60 crashed during takeoff at Columbia Metropolitan Airport in South Carolina. Four people died in the accident – both pilots, Barker's personal assistant, and his bodyguard. Travis and his friend Adam Goldstein (DJ AM) were taken to hospital with severe burns, and according to Travis himself, he will carry the consequences of the crash forever. The documentary is set to capture both the long-term recovery process and the lasting consequences, including his struggle with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), anxiety, and fear of flying.
The documentary should offer an open look into his life and will be a dark personal confession. The drummer even stated that he wants to show an "unfiltered look" – an authentic view of his life after the tragedy that completely changed him. In addition to archival footage, the film will also feature his family, friends, and colleagues from the music industry.
A very significant part of the documentary will also focus on the past few years, during which Barker has gradually returned to performing, traveling, and flying itself. His relationship with Kourtney Kardashian is also expected to play a major role, as she supported him and helped him overcome these life traumas.
According to all available information, the documentary has been in preparation for many years, with production handled by Media Wiever Entertainment. It is expected that Louder Than Fear will offer not only a look at a significant musical personality, but also a very powerful human story about surviving catastrophe, trauma, and further psychological consequences.
