Is Sid Wilson leaving Slipknot?

At the turn of July and August, information appeared on TMZ claiming that Sid Wilson had been permanently fired from the band. The outlet allegedly received confirmation from a source close to the band, but at that point it remained nothing more than speculation.
Sid Wilson is one of the nine original members of the group and has been performing with the band since 1999. He was behind some of the distinctive elements of the original sound that helped shape Slipknot. As the member known by the number #0, he was responsible for samples, sound effects and electronic layers that became an integral part of the band's identity.
A few days later, claims began circulating online that the reason for his "dismissal" was long-standing disagreements concerning his behaviour towards his bandmates. Guitarist Jim Root responded to the reports on Instagram with the message: "Don't believe everything you read."
The whole situation became even more complicated after Slipknot published a very short and concise statement on social media on August 14. "Effective immediately, Sid Wilson will no longer be associated with Slipknot. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours."

It was nothing more than a short text statement, and the post contained no further information regarding the decision. Although the band removed the Instagram statement from their profile very quickly, it remains visible on certain websites – for example, Knotfest. It is a heavy music festival founded by the band in 2012 together with manager Cory Brennan.
So far, there has been no official statement or explanation regarding the circumstances that led to these disagreements and the subsequent departure of this long-standing member of Slipknot. Sid Wilson himself has not yet commented on the situation either. Therefore, for the time being, the truth remains unclear.
Whatever the circumstances may be, this is certainly not the first departure – or dismissal – from the band. For example, in 2023, keyboardist Craig Jones and drummer Jay Weinberg left – or were removed from – the band. The way their careers with Slipknot came to an end followed virtually the same pattern every time: the band released a statement on social media, only to delete it shortly afterwards. After that, no one commented any further on their time in the band.
