Hellish Tones in Army Park: Friday’s Onslaught at Karpaty Hard Fest

07/06/2026

The first day of Karpaty Hard Fest at the Army Park in Divnice near Slavičín clearly proved that fans of heavy music are not discouraged by unpredictable weather. Although light rain fell during the afternoon and temperatures dropped noticeably as evening approached, the atmosphere inside the packed venue was red-hot from the very beginning. Metalheads arrived in Divnice ready for a true marathon of crushing riffs, and the cold night ultimately provided the perfect raw backdrop. The programme ran smoothly across two stages, with one powerful act following another throughout the day.

The afternoon block already delivered an impressive ride. Prague-based modern metal outfit Stellvris drew significant attention with their fierce combination of heavy passages and melodic vocals, quickly getting the crowd moving. Shortly afterwards, legendary Vlasta Henych took over the stage with his project Henych666. Fans were treated to authentic dark rock'n'roll infused with unmistakable thrash and black metal influences, bringing a true cult atmosphere to the festival grounds.

Around seven o'clock in the evening, another huge wave of energy arrived in the form of American death metal veterans Jungle Rot. Their uncompromising and crushing set sparked the first major mosh pits of the day. The momentum continued seamlessly with Czech cult act Melancholy Pessimism, who unleashed their precise technical death/grind assault and once again confirmed why they have remained among the elite of the Czech extreme metal scene for so many years.

The real musical hell - and a serious test of every attendee's neck muscles - began shortly after eight in the evening. Australian thrash warriors Deströyer 666 stormed the main stage, delivering a wild and filthy performance packed with old-school metal fanaticism. Before fans had a chance to recover from their set, Czech death metal force Cutterred Flesh took over the second stage and kept the brutality level set dangerously high.

The undisputed highlight of Friday and, for many in attendance, the absolute peak of the evening came courtesy of Swedish black metal titans Dark Funeral. Shortly before 10:30 PM, darkness descended upon the stage. Their icy and atmospheric performance, accompanied by a massive and relentless sound, completely engulfed Army Park and, combined with the cold night air, left a profound impression on everyone present.

Those who still had enough strength after this black metal storm were finally finished off in the late-night hours by Czech brutal death metal veterans Fleshless. The Friday programme was then triumphantly brought to a close after midnight by German melodic death metal powerhouse Hiraes, led by the incredibly charismatic vocalist Britta Görtz. The final survivors stayed until nearly two in the morning for one last crushing dose of metalcore from Abyss Above. The first festival day set the bar for Saturday's continuation incredibly high.

Respect and deep admiration go out to all the fans who kept the pit spinning tirelessly despite the cold and created an absolutely phenomenal atmosphere. Huge thanks belong to the entire organising team and backstage crew - thanks to their outstanding work, everything ran flawlessly and right on schedule. Last but not least, a big thank-you goes to all the performing bands for their one hundred percent commitment. A special shout-out also goes to host Pepa Michálek from Forrest Jump, who guided us confidently through this musical inferno and kept the crowd fired up throughout the night. The metal heart of Divnice is clearly beating stronger than ever.
