Four decades of Motorband: anniversary concert confirmed the strength of a legend

20/04/2026

Have you already visited the MOOD club in Hradec Králové? On Friday, April 17, there was one of the last opportunities to do so, as the Teplice legend Motorband performed there, accompanied by the energetic guys from Vsetín – Donor. The club is well located in the wider center of Hradec Králové, and visitors can also take advantage of the adjacent parking area. Unfortunately, after less than ten years, MOOD is ending its era of cultural events and will give way to residential development. You can say goodbye to it during the last weekend of May.

The club's interior is designed in an industrial style. The dominant feature is three long bars where you can refresh yourself with Radegast and Pilsner. The evening begins at 18:50 with an autograph session by both bands, which I consider a great move to encourage fans not to miss the start of the event. And taking home a souvenir in the form of a signed poster or a photo with the band members—that's exactly what you want!

At 19:30, the power metal pack Donor takes the stage, and after a short intro they attack the audience with Bojovníci boží. MOOD comes alive, although the fans are a bit reserved at first and it takes a moment before they move closer. The songs Utopia and Válka se nezmění give them no choice—it's time to party properly in the front rows! Singer Jožka Fritschka encourages everyone to sing along to the chorus of Létám dál, while minor technical issues appear as guitarist Miroslav Husek deals with problems with his transmitter. The audience heats up when Krysí král and Devět křížů are played. The guitars take the spotlight, and during the precise joint solo not a single note goes astray! A slight calming moment comes with the beautiful ballad Dlaně from last year's album Jeviště snů. Michal Banovský takes the microphone and couples begin forming in the hall. The atmosphere is enhanced by a moving projection of the Greek god of the underworld—Hades looming above the band looks menacing, and the whole scene appears very professional. After Zlatý klíč and Derniéra, Michal thanks everyone present; there is a group photo with fans and also an encore, Až jednou, which unleashes chaos under the stage! Finally, the whole band congratulates the frontman on his birthday—Jožka gets hit with a cake and, with whipped cream in his eyes, thanks everyone—a perfect ending to a great concert!

And now comes the main star of the evening, Motorband, celebrating 40 years on the metal scene this year. On behalf of the entire editorial team, congratulations—keep it up, guys, you entertain us! The show opens with the recently released single Údolí stínů. The Devil himself begins to tempt us, guitars cut through the hall with such a dense sound that it sends chills down the spine. The sound engineer is doing a solid job. We hear Srdce lvic from the album Černá & Bílá. The drums thunder, the crowd claps, the hall fills with a good mood—everyone feels like the Král noci. There's no Outsider anywhere. Frontman Petr Kutheil constantly communicates with the audience, guitarists Máča and Vojta take their arrows in hand and ask Kam jdou? An older hit pleases the crowd. When the opening riff of Dohody duší sounds, it feels like an AC/DC concert. We take a breather with the slow songs Vládnout and Tvý oči lžou, during which the dance floor quickly fills with couples. A special guest of the Hradec Králové concert is Radek Zíka, singer of the band Turbo! Poslední soud, performed by both singers, is probably the strongest moment of the concert. Chtěl jsem mít by Turbo takes us back in time to 1986. Fans reward this segment with loud applause. After Můžem se smát, Tobias Eykma stirs things up with a drum solo. Bassist Karel Adam steps forward, plays keyboards, and Tobias sings Yesterday by The Beatles. Karel does not stay behind—he performs a bass solo and even sings the folk song Okolo Hradce. The band returns and Staletej zákon is played, and we ask Kde byl bůh? Another question follows—where are the days when long hair waved across the stage? Members of Motorband put on wigs and we continue with Doutník, Whisky, Háro. During Pár důvodů, we are introduced to the current lineup of the band and the singer invites us to Spotify. The band says goodbye with the encore Tolik otázek tu zní, a snippet of Hey Jude by The Beatles, and all that remains for me is to say to Motorband: You've got it all right!

As part of the MB40 Tour 2026, four more concerts will take place, so if you're close to Plzeň, Ostrava, Pěnčín, or Teplice, don't hesitate and go!
