EX UDG Demigods: a new drummer enters the scene

04/05/2026

Founding members of UDG – Petr and Pavel Vrzák along with Bohumil Němeček – are returning in full force under the name Demigods after their departure from the original band. On the first Sunday evening of May, they went live on Instagram to introduce a new member. The new drummer is none other than their friend Ondřej "Ondy" Skřivan, who has previously played with Pekař and Marionety. He also works as a lighting technician, for example with Anna K.. According to the others, he's also significantly lowered the band's average age.

During the stream, they answered several fan questions. For instance, they mentioned that unlike former drummer Tomáš, Ondy won't be performing in dresses. They are still looking for a new guitarist - some candidates are already on their radar, but the door remains open. As for a saxophone, they admitted past bad experiences and currently don't plan to include one. Fans in the comments suggested ideas like adding a violin, to which the Vrzák brothers responded that they actually played it for a few years as kids (quite fitting, given their surname 😄). There were even joking suggestions about adding a kazoo or a DJ.

They also talked about upcoming concerts. Their first confirmed show is on July 31, 2026, at the 11th edition of Rockování in Mikulčice, where they'll perform alongside Civilní Obrana and Koblížc!. Festival appearances will likely be limited this year, as most bookings are arranged during winter. However, there's still a chance some organizers might reconsider their lineups. The band plans to announce several summer dates soon.

At the moment, they are rehearsing intensively during a band retreat in the Jizerské hory, working on older songs as well as new material and overall chemistry with Ondy. They're aiming to hit the road for a tour in autumn and have already received some offers to join other bands on tour. However, they admit they currently have little sense of how widely known their situation is among the public - and what kind of attendance they can expect.

They also discussed which songs fans would like to hear and what the future holds regarding the legal situation around the UDG name. Despite everything, the band radiated renewed energy and even handled a comment from former drummer Tomáš (Jugi) Staněk, who asked why they don't just quit, without losing composure. They also expressed sincere gratitude for the support they've received.

You can watch the full livestream on Demigods' official Instagram.

We wish the band the best as they settle into their new lineup - and we'll be looking forward to seeing them live, hopefully as soon as this autumn.
