Everyone Has Their Own Vizovice. Masters of Rock Once Again Opened Its Gates to the World of Metal

16/07/2026

Masters of Rock. A festival that virtually every fan of heavy music has heard of. For more than two decades, Vizovice has transformed every summer into a destination for tens of thousands of rock and metal fans, not only from the Czech Republic but also from abroad. This small town of fewer than five thousand inhabitants becomes, for several days, the centre of the European metal scene, where alongside Czech you can commonly hear Slovak, Polish, German, English, and many other languages.

Masters of Rock has long since become more than just a music festival. It is a place where old friends reunite, an annual tradition, and a symbol of a community that continues to prove, despite countless stereotypes, that the metal family always stands together. Anyone who has ever been told that metalheads are intimidating will quickly discover in Vizovice just how far that perception is from reality. Smiles, mutual support, respect, and a shared passion for music are just as common here as black T-shirts bearing the logos of favourite bands.

Like every major festival, Masters of Rock has its minor imperfections. That does not change the fact that the grounds of the Rudolf Jelínek distillery offer space for virtually everyone. Those who want to stand right in front of the stage and experience the concerts from the front row will find exactly what they are looking for, just as visitors who prefer a quieter spot with a good view. Everyone can experience the festival at their own pace.

The first festival day traditionally belongs to anticipation. Excitement fills the air as people greet each other after another year apart, pitch their tents, discover the first concerts, and immerse themselves in the festival atmosphere. Many visitors arrive several days in advance and treat the entire week as their summer holiday. It is not unusual to meet groups of friends who reunite here year after year.

Fleret once sang that "everyone has their own Vizovice." Every year, Masters of Rock gives those words new meaning. For thousands of visitors, Vizovice is far more than just a dot on the map of the Zlín Region. It is a place they return to for the music, the people, and an atmosphere that is difficult to describe to anyone who has never experienced it. Some come for a single day, others turn the festival into a week-long holiday. They all have one thing in common—for a few days, Vizovice becomes their second home.

Every band delivered its best-known songs, biggest hits, and strongest performance, whether it was Dirkschneider with Princess of the Dawn, Fleret with Zafúkané, or Marko Hietala performing Frankenstein's Wife. One band, however, deserves a special mention. Kissin' Dynamite played one of their final concerts with vocalist Hannes Braun, and it was a truly spectacular farewell. Not only did they whip the crowd into a frenzy, but every visitor will remember Hannes sailing across the audience on an inflatable boat carried by a sea of hands, as well as his stunt of climbing onto his bandmates while continuing to sing. He gave his all to the fans and to what may be the final chapter of his career as the band's frontman. Suddenly, the song Not the End of the Road takes on an entirely new meaning. All that remains is to hope that this truly is not the end of the road, and that we will continue to see the band in the future.

The opening day was hot, filled with music and emotion. The bar has been set high, and hopefully the days to come will be just as memorable, with metalheads once again proving that they truly are one big family.
