ELEINE TASTE BLOOD. THE WATER TASTE OF BLOOD BRINGS THEIR HEAVIEST SIDE YET

Swedish band ELEINE return with a new studio album, The Water Taste Of Blood, set for release on December 4, 2026. It will be the band's fifth studio record and the successor to We Shall Remain from 2023. This time, however, an important change is also taking place behind the scenes. The new album will be released independently through the band's own Algoth Records, with worldwide distribution handled by Swedish company Sound Pollution.

ELEINE present the new record as their heaviest and most forceful material to date. Their characteristic dark and symphonic side remains, but it is joined more prominently by thrash influenced riffs, heavy groove metal rhythms and influences from the nineties. The result is intended to reveal a harder, more direct and more physical version of the band without losing the atmosphere and melody long associated with their name.

At the center of ELEINE remain vocalist Madeleine Liljestam and guitarist and vocalist Rikard Ekberg. The combination of her powerful clean vocals, heavier vocal passages and massive guitar work remains central to the band's sound. This time the album also focuses on themes of betrayal, lies, loneliness, broken trust and the process of reclaiming personal strength.

The title The Water Taste Of Blood reflects the feeling of giving someone complete trust only to receive betrayal in return. According to the band, the album speaks to people who find themselves in situations where they can see lies and manipulation while everyone around them seems to ignore what is happening. The record is not intended to remain trapped in helplessness, however. Its story gradually turns toward resistance, unity and the ability to take control of one's own life again.

One of the first steps into this new era was Empire Of Lies, which introduced the themes of deception and manipulation. It was followed by We March, representing another stage of the journey through this world of lies. The third single, Watch As We Rise, arrived as a considerably heavier track driven by dense, sharp riffs and defiant energy. Its central theme is reclaiming control over your own life and finding the strength to stand again.

In September, ELEINE also unveiled Liars Linger. The song focuses on deep betrayal by someone who once had your complete trust. The band describe it as a track that is both painful and uplifting, heavy and fragile. This contrast between vulnerability and strength fits naturally into the broader concept of the entire album.

The Water Taste Of Blood contains twelve tracks. The album opens with Watch As We Rise, followed by Hell Remains, We March, Liars Linger, Allt Mitt Blod, Ich Sehe Dich, Empire Of Lies, They Walk Without A Name, the short As I Walk Alone, the title track The Water Taste Of Blood, The Great Battle and the closing We Stand United. The total running time sits just below one hour.

From a business and release perspective, this new chapter is particularly interesting for ELEINE. The band are releasing the album themselves through their own Algoth Records. Global distribution is handled by Sound Pollution, one of the long established independent music companies in Scandinavia. This is therefore not a release through Napalm Records or former partner Atomic Fire Records. The band have considerably greater control over the new record and the way it is presented.

The material released so far makes it clear that ELEINE intend to become heavier not only musically, but emotionally as well. Instead of escaping into fantasy, the lyrics turn toward very tangible feelings, broken trust, manipulation, anger, isolation and the resistance that follows. Yet the idea of unity remains at the center of everything. Titles such as Watch As We Rise and We Stand United already suggest that the final destination is not resignation, but renewed strength.

The new album arrives during a period when ELEINE are also significantly expanding their live presence. The band embarked on their biggest European and United Kingdom headline tour to date, featuring more than thirty concerts across twelve countries. After the tour, they will return to Sweden for a special album release concert in Lund on December 5.

Since their beginnings in southern Sweden, ELEINE have gradually developed into a band with a substantial international following. In the past they have shared stages with names including ARCH ENEMY, KAMELOT, PAIN, SONATA ARCTICA and W.A.S.P.. They now enter a period in which they intend to stand increasingly on their own, and the decision to release the new record through their own label reflects exactly that.

The Water Taste Of Blood therefore will not simply be another album in the ELEINE discography. Based on the information released so far, it is also a strong statement of independence, a heavier musical direction and the ability to transform pain and betrayal into energy. If the singles accurately represent the final record, the fifth studio album will reveal the band in a significantly sharper and more forceful form.
