Donor, Roxor and Vanaheim: Hořické Dřevosochání promises a heavy Friday night!
Summer in Hořice is slowly getting underway and, as everyone knows well after the recent May celebrations, the Areál Zahrada is one of those places where you want to spend warm evenings. This iconic location with fantastic facilities, whose season traditionally culminates in the legendary festival The Legends of Rock, will soon host another great event. On Friday, June 5, 2026, the music programme of the 5th edition of the popular Dřevosochání festival will kick off here.
Friday's opening evening will belong to honest big beat and heavy metal. The gates open for fans at 3:30 PM and a packed triple musical assault awaits. So who can we look forward to?
Among the performing bands will be the Wallachian power/heavy metal outfit Donor. Active on the scene since 2012, this group knows exactly how to ignite a live audience and gives absolutely everything in every performance. Fans can certainly expect an energetic show and catchy melodies, likely featuring a selection from their latest album Jeviště snů.
A proper dose of traditional steel will be delivered by Roxor from Nymburk, whose roots date back to 1984. Expect hard and melodic metal with Czech lyrics. The band has maintained its strong authenticity and still delivers the true spirit of classic heavy metal live, meaning old-school fans are definitely in for a treat.
A Viking storm is also heading to Hořice! We recently covered the current developments within Vanaheim in our latest report. As already known, after the emotional farewell to frontman Míla Krejčí, the microphone is being taken over — at least temporarily — by Ondra Marek. Friday evening at the Zahrada venue will therefore be quite a challenge for Ondra, as he faces a true "double shift", since he is also the vocalist of the aforementioned Roxor! Fans can look forward to seeing him confidently handle both sets and once again guide us through the world of Norse mythology.
