Director on pyromania in INSANIA’s new music video: “Generally, I like it when actors suffer”

INSANIA serve up their final nevergreen before the release of their new album "NEO-NOE", with the somewhat familiar title "I Burned That Guitar Because of You" and a slightly fanatical religious theme.

The release date of the new album "NEO-NOE" is approaching, and the band are serving up the album's final single, this time titled "I Burned That Guitar Because of You": "This nevergreen is an ugly response to Václav Neckář's charming song. With humility, but also perspective and irony: A metal guitar is the holy grail, which MUST NOT be sullied by a sugary singalong. It is a cross beneath which you fall a hundred times on your way to the summit of Golgotha, from where you ascend to heaven as a martyr," explains frontman Poly, who was put through torment while filming the video. "The music video is full of real fire, and during filming things burned and it hurt. I was also forced to throw away my concert boots afterwards because the layers of dripping wax could not be cleaned off. Not to mention my trousers," he concludes.

Director CyberOlas also knows very well that shooting the video was no walk in the park, although it could have been: "I always wanted to shoot a video with destroyed or strange guitars, something like the zombie band in the film From Dusk Till Dawn. And then Poly came along with the song 'I Burned That Guitar Because of You'. Perfect timing! Our guitars took a beating both from the flames and from being rebuilt with a steampunk look. And the lit candles on the guitar? Maybe we could have done them in post-production. Maybe Poly would not have burned his fingers. Maybe we could have avoided the carpet catching fire at my home, but I wanted it to be real. And the wax? Generally speaking, I like it when actors suffer. The wax was the instrument of pain, and it performed its role perfectly. At the end of the video, a large group of extras appears (once again, INSANIA fans), and they deserve a huge thank-you. With them, on the other hand, I tried to provide the greatest possible comfort, and I think we all had a great time." The album "NEO-NOE" will be released on 30 October, but pre-orders are already available at Sparkshop.
