Deloraine unveil a spectacular music video for the English version of “Lada”
Deloraine return to Lada, this time in its original English form. The song was also created for the medieval strategy game The Guild – Europa 1410 by Gnomon, with the English version being the very first incarnation of the track. It was later adapted into Czech, accompanied by a music video released by the band. Now Deloraine are presenting the English version, complete with the same visuals fans already know from the Czech version.
Lada tells a story of young love and passion overshadowed by the cold shadow of an unforgiving Inquisition. When armed guards interrupt a sacred ritual, they drag away not only the lovers in chains, but also the wise woman who had watched over their ritual union. Yet in the middle of a stone-built city, where the women are to be publicly punished in the stocks, an ancient force of nature awakens. At the moment of greatest despair, flowers miraculously begin to burst from the ground, and from this sea of blossoms rises Lada, the Slavic goddess herself. With her magical power, she strikes the inquisitors down and frees everyone who has fallen into their hands. The goddess places a floral wreath in the woman's hair and symbolically joins the lovers' hands in a sacred marriage. The entire city – including the guards who had been so stern moments before – is then swept into an uninhibited, joyful dance celebrating spring, freedom and love. Once her work is done, Lada peacefully returns to her blooming poppy field, leaving behind a city that will never be the same again.
The music video was filmed at the medieval Barrandov Studios, with fans of the band dressed in period costumes helping to bring the atmosphere of a bygone age to life. Together with Deloraine, they formed a sizeable group of extras, giving the video the energy and vitality it needed. Its visual side was handled by film studio Epicture, s. r. o., with whom Deloraine have been collaborating for years. Blackout Paradox, who regularly accompany the band at their live shows, also contributed to the filming.
Deloraine are among the most prominent names in the Czech pagan fantasy folk scene. Their music has long drawn inspiration from the world of The Witcher, ancient myths and sagas, as well as the pagan traditions of Celtic, Slavic and Nordic cultures. Their work, however, has long extended far beyond the music itself. Deloraine concerts are packed with dancing, rituals, costumes and, above all, an infectious energy capable of sweeping up an entire audience. The band have released the albums Vlaštovka and Srdce z kamene and are currently working on their upcoming album Dryáda, which fans are eagerly awaiting. Until then, we can revisit the story of Lada once again – this time in its original English form.
