Deathcore Band Unholy Harakiri Releases Concept Album Higeki 悲劇

Unholy Harakiri, one of the most promising bands on today's extreme metal scene, has just released their new album Higeki 悲劇 ("Tragedy" in Japanese), which is now available on all streaming platforms. This concept album marks a significant artistic step forward for the band, combining the technical brutality of deathcore with the narrative sophistication of traditional Asian art.
The album Higeki 悲劇 is divided into four acts and draws inspiration from the dramatic structure of classic Japanese theatrical forms such as Nō and Kabuki. It takes listeners on an intense journey filled with trauma, suffering, destruction, and death. Musically, it offers a powerful blend of deathcore, metalcore, downtempo, and nu metal, wrapped in a cinematic atmosphere that further amplifies the emotional force of each track.
The choice of title and the album's structure are not merely aesthetic. In Japanese theatre, the concept of Jo-ha-kyū (introduction, break, and climax) defines the pace of an entire performance, a principle that Unholy Harakiri have masterfully transferred into the world of extreme metal. The album reflects the motif of catastrophe, a recurring theme in Japanese culture, and tackles heavy subject matter with the aggression inherent to the genre.
About Unholy Harakiri:
Unholy Harakiri was formed in Brazil in 2020 by Yukio Hara, Rafael Danti, and Maikon Campioni. Thanks to their distinctive visual identity and energetic live performances, the band quickly gained attention within the metal scene. Following the success of their debut album Ketsuro (2022), they strengthened their position in São Paulo's underground scene and performed at well-known venues such as La Iglesia. With the release of Higeki 悲劇, the trio once again confirms its position as an innovative force in modern deathcore and is preparing to expand its tour to other Brazilian states, where they aim to bring their intense, mosh pit-filled shows to new audiences.
