Day Two: Masters of Rock Comes Fully Alive

18/07/2026

The opening day of a festival is always filled with anticipation. People arrive, pitch their tents, look for familiar faces, and after a year away, rediscover the festival grounds that will become their second home for the next few days. By day two, however, no one is a newcomer anymore. The festival settles into its natural rhythm, and Vizovice fully demonstrates why it has become a symbol of summer for thousands of fans.

The morning still feels peaceful. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee drifts through the campsite, some people head into town for fresh pastries, while others simply sit in folding chairs discussing the previous evening's concerts. Work and everyday responsibilities are forgotten. For a few days, only music, friends, and the festival atmosphere matter. Even in the early hours, it is clear that the second day in Vizovice will be exceptionally hot, so it comes as no surprise that many metalheads packed their swimsuits and headed to the newly renovated swimming pool, which offered at least a brief escape from the heat.

The second day also beautifully showcases the diversity of the festival audience. Standing side by side are fans who have attended since the very first edition, young families with children, and people experiencing Masters of Rock for the first time. They are united by one thing—the joy of live music and respect for one another. Any prejudice that the metal community is closed off or unfriendly quickly falls apart here. On the contrary. If you lose your phone or a ring, need directions, or simply require help, someone will almost always stop to assist you, or immediately share the lost item in the Masters of Rock community group in the hope of returning it to its owner as quickly as possible.

As the hours pass, the pace begins to change. More visitors arrive through the entrance gates, the merchandise stands become increasingly crowded, and the first fans claim their traditional spots in front of the stage. The second day is when Masters of Rock truly shifts into high gear. Thousands more people arrive in Vizovice, and the grounds of the Rudolf Jelínek distillery transform into a small city whose common language is music.

Then comes the moment when the first notes ring out from the speakers. The crowd gradually moves toward the stage, and Vizovice once again immerses itself in the sound of heavy guitar riffs, thunderous drums, and powerful vocals.

The second festival day was headlined by major international names, including German metal outfit Orden Ogan and Finland's The Rasmus. Before they took the stage, however, the Ronnie James Dio Stage belonged to bands that did an excellent job of warming up the audience. Angus McSix delivered an energetic, theatrical performance packed with costumes, humour, and constant interaction with the crowd. It was obvious that not only the musicians themselves but also fans of all generations were thoroughly enjoying the show.

They were followed by Visions of Atlantis, who created an entirely different atmosphere. They can perhaps best be summed up in a single sentence: a gentle woman with a powerful voice. That contrast has become the band's signature and gives their music its unmistakable character.

In contrast, Cavalera Conspiracy, the hard-hitting group from the United States with Brazilian roots, refused to let the rain slow them down. Neither the devoted fans nor the curious newcomers were intimidated by the weather, enduring the downpour while enjoying every guitar riff. Czech fans were particularly delighted by the vocalist's outfit - everyone immediately recognised the Czech national emblem.

The Rasmus are one of those bands that hardly need an introduction. Their hit In the Shadows still receives regular radio airplay and remains one of those songs fans can sing from the first note to the last. It was therefore no surprise that the band saved it for the very end of their set. The concert was accompanied by unpredictable weather: rain welcomed fans at the beginning and bid them farewell at the end. Fortunately, neither the musicians nor the audience let it dampen their spirits, and the performance itself took place without a single drop of rain falling during the show.

Sweden's In Flames then reminded everyone why they have remained one of the leading names in melodic death metal for decades. Crushing guitar riffs, relentless energy, and the band's unmistakable stage presence had the crowd moving from start to finish, proving that even after more than thirty years on the scene, they have lost none of their power.

The second festival day concluded with German power metal band Orden Ogan. They delivered exactly what their fans had come to expect - memorable melodies, a carefully crafted stage production, and an energetic performance that brought the second day of Masters of Rock to a spectacular close. Those who stayed until two o'clock in the morning certainly had no regrets, and when the opening notes of Come With Me To The Other Side echoed across the festival grounds, it seemed that everyone was singing along, at least to the chorus.

The second stage also offered an impressive programme, giving Czech bands the opportunity to shine. Among them were V.A.R. from Liberec and Forrest Jump, both of whom demonstrated that the Czech metal scene has plenty to offer. Altogether, the second festival day delivered a rich blend of musical styles, boundless energy, and yet another demanding challenge in the form of unpredictable weather, testing both the audience and the performers alike.
