Celebrating Bring Me The Horizon’s Debut: 2006–2026

31/10/2026

30 October marks exactly 20 years since the release of Bring Me The Horizon's first album, their debut Count Your Blessings.

Back then, the up-and-coming metal band from the British city of Sheffield had no idea how far they would come in just a few years. When Oliver Sykes and his friend Mat Nicholls decided to form a band, they couldn't have imagined just how much their career would grow over the next 20 years.

Their very first musical project was a four-track EP titled This Is What The Edge Of Your Seat Was Made For, released in September 2004.

They decided to stick with a similar genre, deathcore, for their next release, the aforementioned Count Your Blessings, which helped them break through online on the then-popular platform MySpace. It sparked a wave of interest among teenagers, who began exploring new genres, dressing outside the mainstream and expressing their opinions without fear. Bring Me The Horizon became one of the most influential bands in the genre, leaving an impact that can still be felt today.

Since the release of Count Your Blessings, the band have explored various musical styles. They started with deathcore, experimented with pop and rock, and eventually returned to their deathcore roots to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album.

The band therefore decided to release a new version of Count Your Blessings, featuring new vocals and guitar recordings. To mark the occasion, they also organised two major concerts on home soil. On 10–11 July, Manchester hosted two events packed with deathcore, great music and various activities.

I personally attended one of the dates, and I have to admit it was one of the best events I've ever been to. I thoroughly enjoyed the incredible atmosphere, the people, and the entire venue, including the way everything was organised. Bring Me The Horizon took to the stage at around 9 p.m. During their performance, they played the entire album, along with the new track Dehumanized and four bonus songs from Suicide Season, There Is a Hell, and even one of the four tracks from their debut EP.
