Breakup after ten years: Alissa White-Gluz leaves Arch Enemy

After more than a decade of collaboration, Alissa White-Gluz is leaving Arch Enemy. The announcement on November 23, 2025, thus closes one of the most striking chapters in modern melodic death metal and at the same time opens up a number of questions that still lack clear answers.

Alissa joined the band in 2014 after the departure of Angela Gossow and immediately became the central figure of a new era. Her signature growl, distinctive melodic lines and confident stage presentation gave Arch Enemy a distinctly modern face. The band released the successful albums War Eternal, Will to Power and Deceivers with her. The album Blood Dynasty, released this year, thus regains a symbolic dimension – it becomes her last studio work in the lineup.

In a short statement, Arch Enemy thanked her for her long-term cooperation, but left other details without comment. There was no word on the official reasons for her departure. Alissa herself was equally cautious, formulating her statement in general terms, and speculation has filled the air. There is talk of a solo project, guest appearances in other bands, and a possible return to the darker genres that were at the heart of her musical beginnings.

The future of Arch Enemy also remains unclear. The band has not yet announced the name of a successor, and it is clear that filling Alissa's place will not be easy. Her combination of brutality, technique, and strong charisma has set a high standard in the genre.

For fans, this is a turning point - the end of one era and the beginning of another. What is certain is that both Alissa White-Gluz and Arch Enemy have left a mark on metal history that will not easily disappear. The chapter is closing, but expectations for further developments are stronger than ever.

In the meantime, Alissa is embarking on a solo career and presenting the first part of her upcoming album. "This is the first part of my solo project. I hope it will get you as excited as it did me. You can find the full video on my YouTube channel," she tells her fans.

On behalf of the entire editorial team, we wish her a successful start on her new journey — you can find a link to her first solo video in the caption below.
