Axe Dragger announce new project with Terry Glaze (ex-Pantera)

A new heavy metal beast named Axe Dragger is emerging on the scene. This is not some faceless studio project, but an honest metal supergroup where old school meets seasoned names. Terry Glaze, the original voice of Pantera, is at the microphone, Bob Balch (Fu Manchu, Slower) is in his hands on guitars, Fredrik Isaksson (Dark Funeral) is crushing the bass and Pete Campbell, ex-Pentagram, is sitting behind the drums.

The band was formed inconspicuously – through emails, shared ideas and riffs sent from afar. At first, Balch and Campbell just exchanged musical fragments, no plan, no pressure. Just the desire to write old-school heavy metal, which is not very popular these days. But as soon as Glaze and Isaksson joined, it was clear: this has power and direction. Over the course of a year, material was created that sounds like it was written somewhere between 1982 and 1985.

The first song "Axe Dragger" was a turning point. When Glaze sent the finished vocals, the rest of the band was said to have just stared in disbelief - his voice still had the pull, dirt and charisma. No slick retro, but honest heavy metal with heart and sweat. The riffs cut, the rhythms stomp and the guitar leads do not deny the inspiration of Iron Maiden from the Powerslave era.

The debut album of the same name will be released in spring 2026. The sound was taken care of by Brian Scheuble (Mötley Crüe, Whitesnake), mastering is the responsibility of Dave Collins (Metallica, Soundgarden). The visuals were provided by Seldon Hunt, press photos were taken by John McGill. Of course, vinyl and CD will not be missing - no stream-only compromises.

Axe Dragger do not play for trends or algorithms. They play for people who know what heavy metal should sound like when it is done honestly. If you like old school, sharp riffs and vocals that aren't made of plastic, mark this name on your calendar.
