Areál Zahrada in Flames: May Festivities Fully Launched the Summer Season in Hořice
May is traditionally the month of love, blossoming trees, and awakening nature. But at Rebel Sound, we know very well that the best kiss under a cherry tree tastes like cold beer, smells like good food, and above all – resonates to the rhythm of honest rock music! And that was exactly the spirit of this year's May Festivities, which took place on May 8 at the Zahrada Area in Hořice.
Until the very last moment, we all anxiously watched the sky and secretly prayed that raincoats and umbrellas could stay buried at the bottom of our closets. And it paid off! In the end, the weather showed its friendly face, and the musical celebration of spring could begin in full force and without any restrictions.
The first band to hit the stage was the Jičín-based group Fénix. This band is very well known in the surrounding area, and from the very beginning they showed that they are definitely not resting on their laurels. Their setlist already permanently includes new singles, and the energy they sent into the audience worked perfectly as the opening of the event. Fans are already eagerly awaiting the upcoming album – the band promises its release party in autumn, specifically at the end of November, so there is definitely something to look forward to!
The baton was then taken over by the veterans Atlantis. Anyone familiar with the Hořice scene knows that Atlantis has an unshakable fan base there. But do you know what is best about a proper band? When they think about the future and are not afraid to pass the baton on. During their performance, there was a fantastic moment when they invited two younger attendees onto the stage. They were able to experience for themselves what it feels like to stand in front of a crowd of loyal fans and blast out well-known singles that the entire venue sings along to.
The evening then belonged to the band Manual. They are no strangers to this stage either. Since they performed later in the evening, when the spring night had already become slightly colder, many fans in front of the stage enthusiastically welcomed their fire effects. This time, it was not only a great visual show, but also a much-appreciated source of warmth that literally heated up the entire performance, and in the end, the cold was defeated by rock music.
Zahrada Area: The beating heart of summer in Hořice
This year's May Festivities were only the second event to bring the famous Zahrada Area to life, but the season is only just beginning! This venue is well known for its summer events and offers absolutely fantastic facilities appreciated by both performers and us, the fans under the stage.
You should already mark another great event in your calendars – the popular event called Dřevosochání. The gates of the venue will open for it on June 5, and the bands Vanaheim, Donor, and Roxor have accepted the invitation.
But all of this is only a pleasant appetizer before the main course. Everyone is already eagerly awaiting the annual absolute highlight of the season – the legendary festival with a huge tradition in Hořice: The Legends Rock Fest.
This year's edition is truly packed, and there will definitely be plenty to look forward to. The opening party will kick off already on Thursday, July 16, while the Friday and Saturday program will offer many major names led by bands such as Walda Gang, Panoptiko, Doga, and Škwor. And that is only a small fraction of the musical load awaiting us.
