American Grammy winners Portugal. The Man head to Prague with new album

Portugal. The Man is one of the most prominent names in the current alternative scene. The band became famous for their original combination of rock, psychedelia, pop and electronics, which brought them fans all over the world. The band has just released their new studio album SHISH, which is their tenth in a row. The album, released under their own label KNIK/Thirty Tigers, captures the band at a moment when they are rediscovering themselves and opening another chapter in their story. Their music is characterized by catchy melodies, layered sound and lyrics that often carry social or political overtones. In addition to their latest album, they will also bring their proven hits to their fans. The band will perform as part of the RFP Concerts series on March 11, 2026 at ARCHA+.
In 2017, Portugal. The Man took their music to a whole new level with their platinum album Woodstock. Their catchy hit "Feel It Still" earned the band a GRAMMY Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, seven-times platinum certification, a record-breaking 20 weeks at number one on alternative radio, and a strong presence on the Top 40 charts.
But behind their musical success is also their long-standing interest in social justice. The combination of music and activism is a natural fit for Portugal. The Man. In 2020, they founded the Pass The Mic Foundation, which focuses on human rights, community health, and environmental protection, with a strong emphasis on supporting indigenous peoples. The organizations supported by the foundation include Alaska Native Health, which provides cutting-edge healthcare to indigenous communities in Alaska, and Seeding Sovereignty, which focuses on land, food, and the sovereignty of indigenous peoples. The band also launched the Frances Changed My Life campaign, inspired by singer John Gourley's daughter. The aim is to help families struggling with the rare genetic condition DHDDS – both emotionally and financially. Over the past two years, they have raised and donated over $1 million to support these important projects.
With their new album SHISH, Gourley is using Portugal. The Man to talk about a more just and compassionate world – about taking only what we really need, becoming a voice for others and sharing the best of ourselves so that everyone has a chance to grow and be better. Across ten diverse tracks, Portugal. The Man delve into feelings of insecurity, vulnerability and the unique pop aesthetic that is their signature. SHISH is the result of a period of deep reflection by frontman John Gourley – both about music and life. The lyrics are his most honest yet; reflect not only the experiences of growing up in Alaska, but also the lessons he learned from parenting. Gourley's daughter Frances was diagnosed with one of the rarest genetic disorders in the world four years ago, and that experience has had a profound impact on his music.
