American Duo The Dresden Dolls Bring the Reissue of Yes, Virginia... to Archa+

26/06/2026

The Dresden Dolls return in full force with their newly re-recorded album Yes, Virginia… (Tailor's Version) and a world tour that will also stop in Prague. On September 4, 2026, they will bring their dark, emotionally charged punk cabaret to ARCHA+ in a form fans have never experienced before.

The Dresden Dolls have announced the release of a newly recorded version of their landmark 2006 album Yes, Virginia…. The reissue, titled Yes, Virginia… (Tailor's Version), will be released on August 7, 2026. The title references the trend of re-recording albums popularized by Taylor Swift and symbolizes the end of the duo's twenty-year contract with Roadrunner Records. However, this new version is far more than a simple copy of the original. It reflects two decades of musical and personal growth from both members, delivering more mature, dynamic, and emotionally deeper interpretations of songs such as My Alcoholic Friends, Sex Changes, Backstabber, and Sing. The reissue also arrives at a time when The Dresden Dolls are experiencing a remarkable resurgence in popularity. My Alcoholic Friends has surpassed 240 million streams, and the band recently received their very first platinum certification for the song, nearly twenty years after the album's original release.

Yes, Virginia… was originally created during a period when the American duo existed somewhere between the club scene and underground theatre. Even then, it earned a reputation as one of the boldest albums of its era. Critics frequently praised the contrast between its raw piano-driven energy and theatrical, at times provocative, lyrics exploring themes of sexuality, identity, and social taboos. Despite the band's long-standing cult status, several tracks from the album only became viral hits many years later through social media, significantly contributing to their current return to the musical spotlight.

The Dresden Dolls were formed in Boston in 2000 after Amanda Palmer and Brian Viglione met by chance at a Halloween party, quickly becoming one of the defining acts of the underground scene. Their fusion of punk energy, cabaret aesthetics, and theatrical performance helped define the punk cabaret genre, producing cult classics such as Coin-Operated Boy and Girl Anachronism. The band has appeared at prestigious festivals including Coachella, Glastonbury, and Lollapalooza, while also sharing stages with artists such as Patti Smith, The Cure, and Cyndi Lauper. Following an unofficial hiatus beginning in 2008, both members focused on their own individual projects. Now, however, the duo returns with renewed energy, a "new" album, and the beginning of another shared chapter.
