Alkehol on Žluťák – an evening full of great music, fun and beer

On November 21, 2025, the Prague rock star Alkehol gave a concert at the Žlutý pes club in Pardubice. It was a smaller, intimate event. This time there was no long queue in front of the club doors, in which visitors would eagerly wait for the doors to open. During the last quarter of an hour before seven (i.e. before opening), several fans arrived, but most only after opening. Also, the first row in front of the stage was not immediately occupied, as is customary at rock concerts, but fans sat and stood at the back of the stage or at the bar. It was simply an evening from a slightly different keg.
And we will stay with the keg – because the band Alkehol, of course, also inherently includes a sip of delicious beer. At the bar, we could choose from two types – the local Vilém or Kašpárek from nearby Chrudim. Another big advantage was that instead of plastic cups, beer was served in glass pint glasses, which many a beer drinker will surely appreciate.
Arriving visitors could be greeted right at the bar by bassist Honza Bartoš, alias Bart. He appeared among the fans near the bar several times during the evening. There was no support band, so the only band that played for us that evening was Alkehol. The question among the fans was: "What time are they going to start playing?" "I read that at 8," "Well, I read that at 9," no one knew for sure. However, around eight o'clock they were already moving from the bar to the hall. So quickly get some refreshment, go to the toilet and back to the signs!
"Hey, hey, hey, hey...", which starts the first song Hospodo nalejvej, finally sounded at a quarter to nine, or less than 2 hours after the club opened. The band's singer Ota Hereš then commented that we managed to drink a few more beers before the concert and get into a "working position". He also didn't forget to mention that Alkehol was formed in 1992, originally as a side project of musicians who play in other bands, and that no one expected them to play for more than 30 years.
The performance lasted more than two hours and the band prepared a setlist for us, consisting of a total of 32 songs. It was a cross-section of their entire career, with most of the songs played from their first album, simply called Alkehol, from 1992. Standard and well-known songs that are heard at every concert, such as Hospodo nalejvej, Na zdraví, Na Slamníku, Pivo dělá hezká těla or O chlastu (and of course many others), alternated with songs that we rarely hear at concerts these days, such as Piju jako duha, Jako váček, Zase sám or Podbabskej stánek. The atmosphere was exactly what befits and belongs to an Alkehol concert. Not only during the song Na zdraví, but also during a number of others that sing about beer (of which there are many from Alkehol), the visitors raised pints of beer in the air and clinked glasses.
During the evening, there was also a small scuffle in the first row in front of the stage, which even singer Ota Hereš tried to calm down by agreeing not to push people. However, the situation calmed down very quickly and, with this one small exception, a very friendly atmosphere reigned throughout the evening.
