A Thrash Metal Horror Valentine’s in Plzeň: Fata Morgana Invited Freddy Krueger and Doctor Mengele, Debustrol Brought a Chainsaw

If you're a fan of thrash metal – or just a horror lover who isn't exactly into romance – chances are you celebrated Valentine's Day in a far more interesting way. For example, at Šeříkovka in Plzeň. On February 14, 2026, Mladá Boleslav's Debustrol rolled into town, joined by local heavy horror metal outfit Fata Morgana.

The entire evening was kicked off by Domažlice-based thrash metal band Bloodcreek. From the very first notes, they properly warmed up the crowd and prepared them for the next ride into the house of horrors.

Then it was time for Fata Morgana. Right from the first song, they invited Doctor Frankenstein onto the stage to let us know that he wasn't actually that evil after all. He stormed in, the hall went dark, flames ignited. Frankenstein was soon replaced by Count Dracula for the self-titled track. Next came songs like Sexuální Degustátor, during which a figure in a terrifying bunny mask appeared. Freddy Krueger and Doctor Mengele with his team also made their way onto the stage – during the song Dr. Mengele, they performed an "operation," handing the "surgically removed body parts" directly to fans in the pit. Among many others, they played a number of older songs, including Lovce lebek. The band also announced that they plan to re-release these older tracks on a new record as part of celebrating 40 years of the band. The album (physical CD and LP), currently in production, is expected to be released by this summer.

Then Debustrol took over. They opened their set with tracks like Trendshit, Zakuklenci, and Umučená. The sound was raw, but the fans in the pit were enthusiastically jumping and forming smaller mosh pits. Debustrol are not a band that wastes time talking – they get straight to the point. One song followed another. Yugoslavia, Protest, Příchod zla, Krvavá práce, and Oběti strachu a beznaděje all rang out. During Svět, co zatočí s tebou, we were once again honored by the presence of Freddy Krueger. This time, however, he was the "good guy" – greeting the band and happily shaking hands with fans. For the closing Masoterian, a chainsaw was, of course, brought out – something singer Kollins simply couldn't resist. In the end, the fans demanded an encore and were rewarded with Antikrist, Vyhlazení, and Údolí hadů. After that, the band stepped down from the stage to greet their fans in person.

A huge thank you to the bands and the organizers for this unusual, horror-themed event – the perfect way to spend Valentine's Day.

I'm adding a few photos; the rest, as always, can be found on our ZONERAMA.
