A New Era for UDG: Múzy Embraces Catchy Mainstream Pop Rock

09/10/2026

The Ústí nad Labem-based band UDG are entering a new era following a dramatic line-up shake-up. After the group effectively split into two separate entities, the continuing UDG have moved forward with a revamped line-up. The band currently consists of original members Tomáš "Jugi" Staněk, Adam Kupera and Tomáš "Volt" Vohradský, joined by new vocalist Tomáš Štefka, guitarist Jakub Lenz and bassist Tomáš First. (It almost feels as though having the name Tomáš was one of the requirements for joining this line-up. :D)

It is this new incarnation of the band that has released Múzy, their seventh studio album. The record came out digitally on October 2, 2026, via RedHead Records and features 11 tracks. It was recorded at Sun and Sono Studios, with mixing handled by Milan Cimfe. You can stream the album on Spotify, or pre-order it on vinyl via the band's official website.

Compared to their previous albums, UDG's latest material sounds somewhat more pop-oriented. As soon as the first singles were released, discussions about the band's more pronounced pop sound erupted across forums and social media, with listeners frequently comparing them to the now-defunct Mandrage. An objective listener has to acknowledge that the new UDG are deliberately aiming for the radio-friendly appeal of mainstream pop rock. On the other hand, since Mandrage called it a day, there has been a noticeable gap in the Czech music scene that remains to be filled.

The band will celebrate the album's release with a launch show on December 10, 2026, at Cargo Gallery in Prague. Tickets are available via XTicket.cz.
