A black cloak will cover Pilsen: the annual celebration of metal METALFEST Open Air 2026 is approaching

Already during the first June weekend, Friday June 5 – Sunday June 7, 2026, the 15th edition of the international metal celebration Metalfest Open Air 2026 will take place in Plzeň. As in previous years, we can once again look forward to black flooding not only the Lochotín Amphitheatre and the nearby campsites, but the entire city as well. Complete metal families often come here for what is essentially their first holiday of the year.

And which bands can Plzeň prepare for this year? Among the headliners are names such as Avantasia, Sepultura, and Accept. The last mentioned, German heavy metal legends Accept, will arrive with a special anniversary show celebrating the band's 50th anniversary as part of their "Half A Century Of Metal" tour. The local amphitheatre can also look forward to names such as Anthrax, Battle Beast, Kamelot, Pain, Dominum, Freedom Call, Gotthard, and a huge number of other bands. For the next three days, every branch of metal will echo not only from Lochotín.

Tickets for this year's edition are still on sale, either for individual days or, more conveniently, as a full festival pass. In addition, this year, besides the classic tent areas, a special offer of luxuriously equipped tents in the Chill Village campsite has also been introduced.

Part of the entire metal celebration will also include a kind of warm-up event – a special concert by Sabaton scheduled for June 3, 2026. We have already covered it in a separate article.

So prepare your black wardrobe and come along – it's going to be huge.
