Rock-metal tornado in Chlumec: when fiery energy can be felt miles away

After a year, the gate to the loud rock-metal universe opened again in Chlumec nad Cidlinou. On November 22, 2025, the local Sokolovna hosted a return of a quartet with strong roots there – Fénix, Vanaheim, Alžběta, and they were recently joined by the band Polymetal. The result? An evening when you could cut the air with a guitar riff and the energy of the fans vibrated in the foundations of the hall like an earthquake.
Fénix: A Fire That Will Never Go Out
The evening was kicked off by the band Fénix – a group from Jičín, which, like the rest of the line-up, is based on purely Czech work. The start of this evening was truly symbolic thanks to the band Fénix: when they entered the stage, the entire Sokolovna was on fire. The band has had a number of big concerts this year, but Chlumec had a special place in the set – a return after a year since celebrating their anniversary on the domestic stage.
The band makes no secret of the fact that they are starting to gain momentum and are starting to solidify their work more, although their repertoire also includes slower ballads that are still popular with fans after years. There was also a sweet secret hanging in the air: Fénix will release a new video clip in the coming days and is preparing singles for a new anniversary album, which is due to be released next year. This will be big. And if they confirmed anything in Chlumec, it is that the new era will burn even brighter than the old one.

Vanaheim: Vikings with a Czech heart and a Norwegian soul
The second wave of the evening belonged to Vanaheim. The Viking warriors left no one in doubt that Norse mythology belongs only to the north, but can also be heard in our native language. The band recently finished filming a video clip in Norway and arrived in Chlumec with the mood of the cold north and the heat of battle blood.
Their set felt like the soundtrack to a longship raid – but instead of axes, the concerts were dominated by melodies, growls and raw instrumental power. And beware: on March 21, 2026, Vanaheim will return to the same place to christen their new CD. If the christening is as strong as this concert taster, we have something to look forward to. Skål!
Alžběta: local icon heads to warpath with Komunál
Then came Alžběta – another regional star, for whom the stage in Sokolovna is almost a second home. They have many concerts to their credit, from small clubs to larger venues, the launch of a new album and a solid fan base. In Chlumec, they gave out metal served with authenticity and Czech rock temperament.
And 2026 will not be quiet: Alžběta is waiting for a tour with the band Komunál, another local legend. This tandem will head to the stages loudly, uncompromisingly and without napkins.

Polymetal: 40 years on stage and a tsunami of nostalgia
Conclusion? Polymetal. A band that celebrated four decades of existence during its concert tour this year. The name alone had a special sound for local and international fans. Nostalgia ran through the hall like an electric shock – in a good way.
Old songs came to life in the hearts and vocal cords of the audience, some of the witnesses may have had their first moshpit in black and white photos – but here and now it was celebrated loudly, with tears and roars. Memories that connect generations, and a band that shows that the rebellious spirit cannot be measured by age, but by intensity.
The organizing baton belonged to the HZ Production company, and it must be said – this production has sound and lights in its little finger. Great sound that supported the dynamics of all the bands, and lighting that added the right rough shine to the show. Fans arrived from distant cities, and there was definitely no reason to regret it: the hall was literally filled to bursting. The energy that the bands put into their performances was returned to them by this full hall and it was an amazing experience to be an integral part of it all.
Chlumec thus confirmed once again that even a small town can have a rock soul, a metal heart and rebellious blood. This evening was not just a concert. It was a promise that Czech riffs and Czech lyrics still have something to say – and that fans will go to the north of the world for their music… or to the crowded Sokolovna in Chlumec nad Cidlinou.
And what about the December line? The rebels continue
The three bands Fénix, Vanaheim and Alžběta are not leaving the region in December – they are moving to the Pardubice region.
